I’ve been told you have to be in the mood for this, and I definitely wasn’t. After the first chapter, the plot slowed to a crawl and it was hard to keep reading. We soon find out why Dizzy as Harry so charmingly calls her is so disappointed with her savior. I am glad so many people enjoyed this book but I was not one of them. This one was a first for me because it’s set in Victorian Egypt.

The pale and proud girl faced her captors, making no effort to hide her disdainful glare. I don’t know exactly what. The grockway papyrus scroll Rabi had given her as a means of keeping her occupied was fascinating, yes, but a bit too Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.

This story follows our protags through the sands and markets of Egypt as they come to an understanding about each other. Together, Harry and Dizzy are an utterly charming pair, complimenting each other beautifully.

Reading this one was breath of fresh air and it is my desire to see other authors branch out like that. Brockway was incredibly amazing incorporating pharaohs and their romantic scriptures!

The writing imagery was really beautiful and the poetry that Harry spoke to Dizzy had me fanning yoi. Today Connie lives in Minnesota with her husband David, a family physician, and two spoiled mutts. It was more suitable reading for a private setting. I loved that the setting of AYD stayed in Egypt.

Other books in the series. There was just enough action and angst in this story, I never felt overwhelmed by drama even though part of the plot had a slightly suspenseful overtone. So Desdemona did not have a typical childhood. View all 8 comments. TBH, I’m not even certain that all those elements were actually resolved. All 3 of the Soon enough she jettisoned the idea of writing serious literature for what she considered and still considers the best gig in the world, writing romance.
Des provides Hero and heroine stupidity. I could just kick myself for waiting so long to read it. I’m torn about this book. While I enjoyed the interactions between Harry and Dizzy, the rest of it just fell flat for me.
